Welcome to my DIY home improvement blog Life with Neal and Suz!
My name is Suzanne and I am the main author of the blog, so you can blame me for some of my goofy comments. I am who I am!
Neal and I are best friends. We enjoy doing DIY home improvement projects together at our lake house, which is our full-time residence. We learn together, work together, and enjoy the fruits of our labor. I also enjoy a variety of craft projects.
Neal and I have been married for over 35 years. We have two grown children, Ryan and Emmy. Keith is our son-in-law (married to Emmy). Bekah is Ryan’s partner and of course, we adore her sweet girls Ocean and Luna. We are empty nesters and live on Logan Martin Lake in Alabama. Neal is a Real Estate Appraiser and works from home. I am a retired school superintendent and work part-time as an education consultant. In addition, we own and operate hangITstrips, which is a product designed to help you simplify hanging pictures.
Buddy came to live with us when my Dad passed away a few years ago. We miss Dad, but Buddy is a sweet reminder of him.

We also have Daisy. Emmy and Keith rescued her on the side of the road when she was a puppy. She and her dog family were living in the woods.

Daisy is our “Supervisor” on many DIY projects (or at least she thinks she is).
Our lives are not perfect. We have all the ups and downs, struggles, and worries that everyone has. You can also see that we are not trendy or chic. As Neal would say, this is not the “highlight reel”, but the “behind the scenes reel”. We just want our home to be a comfortable place where we enjoy family and friends.
Although we enjoy our home and doing DIY home improvement projects together as a couple, we want to be clear that it is not about our house or the “stuff” we create/repurpose. Our focus is on the love we share for our family, creating and savoring memories, spending time together creating/repurposing things, and most importantly serving and being thankful for all God has bestowed on us, including our desire to create/repurpose things.
We believe the human spirit has a desire to make things. After all, God created the Heavens and the earth and Jesus was a carpenter when He was on earth; this verifies that we were created in His image. Click HERE to read my testimony.
I also enjoy doing projects because it keeps me mentally and physically active. It also gives me time to think and pray, especially when I am sanding or painting something.
All this to say, I sincerely thank you for visiting my website and letting me share about our DIY home improvement projects with YOU! Enjoy our blog posts and let us know what you think by posting comments.
Be Blessed,
Suzanne
