Welcome to our Blog Life with Neal and Suz!
Suzanne (at least for now) is the main author of the blog, so you can blame her for some of the goofy comments. She is who she is! 😉
We have been married for over 32 years. 😍 😍 We have two grown children, Ryan (27) and Emmy (24). Keith is our son-in-law (Emmy’s husband). Bekah is Ryan’s partner and of course we adore her sweet girls Ocean and Luna. We are empty nesters and live on Logan Martin Lake in Talladega, Alabama. 🚤 Neal is a Real Estate Appraiser and works from home. Suzanne is a retired school superintendent and serves as an education consultant; she also manages an education blog: SuzanneFreeman.org. In addition, we own and operate hangITstrips, which is an online business that helps you simplify hanging pictures. Please visit our website at http://hangITstrips.com.
We recently put Ladybug to sleep. 😢 She has been a valuable part of our family for almost 16 years. You will see Ladybug in several of our pictures. Click here to see our tribute to her.
We also have Buddy the cat. Buddy came to live with us when Suzanne’s Dad passed away. We miss Floyd/Dad, but Buddy is a sweet reminder of him.
And we recently added Daisy to our family. Emmy and Keith rescued her on the side of the road. She and her dog family were living in the woods. 😢 She is precious!
Neal and I are best friends and enjoy doing projects together at our lake house, which is our full-time residence. We learn together, work together and enjoy the fruits of our labor. Suzanne also enjoys a variety of crafting projects.
Our lives are not perfect. We have all the ups and downs, struggles and worries that everyone has. (Some of our future posts will share about some of these moments and our many imperfections.) Our blog posts are not perfect. Suzanne takes most of the pictures on her iPhone and she is not a professional photographer. You can also see that we are not trendy or chic. As Neal would say, this is not the “highlight reel”, but the “behind the scenes reel”. Although we enjoy our home and doing projects together as a couple, we want to be clear that it is not about our house or the “stuff” we create/repurpose. Our focus is on the love we share for our family, creating and savoring memories, spending time together creating/repurposing things and most importantly serving and being thankful for all God has bestowed on us, including our desire to create. We believe the human spirit has a desire to make things. After all, God created the Heavens and the earth and Jesus was a carpenter when He was on earth; this verifies that we were created in His image. Suzanne also enjoys doing projects because it keeps her mentally active (sometimes she has to do math😳) and it gives her time to think and pray, especially when she is sanding or painting something.
All this to say, we sincerely thank you for visiting our website and letting us share our DIY projects with YOU! Enjoy our posts and let us know what you think by posting comments. We would love ❤ your feedback!
