French Dip Sandwich Recipe with Au Jus

french dip sandwich dipping into au jus

I have made roast beef sandwiches for many years because I like a hearty and filling lunch, which is why I like making this French dip sandwich recipe. However, this can be too heavy for some for lunch; Suz likes a lighter lunch. So depending on your preference, you can make this tasty French dip sandwich with au jus for lunch or dinner. You can even make it for dinner and hopefully have enough roast beef leftover for lunch the next day.

Learn how to make the best French dip sandwich recipe with roast beef, provolone cheese, and a packet of au jus mix. Bon Appetit!

Ingredients for 6 sandwiches:

1 packet of au jus mix (found with the jarred gravy)

1.5 lb. of deli roast beef (I like Boar’s Head London Broil) sliced to your preference

12 slices of provolone cheese

3 12” loaves of French bread (or other hoagie-style bread or roll of choice)

Directions for Frech Dip Sandwich Recipe:

Make au jus per package directions.  While the au jus is cooking, cut the bread in half and slice through. Portion out the roast beef into 4 servings and place on the bottom part of the bread. Place 2 slices of provolone cheese on top. Place on a baking sheet and place under a broiler until cheese is melted and meat heated through.
